Google has officially released Android 16, beginning its rollout with select Pixel models. The latest operating system is now live on multiple Pixel devices, with other manufacturers like Samsung, Realme, and OnePlus expected to follow in the coming weeks.
The update is currently supported on Google Pixel 6, 7, 8, and 9 series, including the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. Samsung is anticipated to push the update soon to the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Other brands are likely to announce their eligible models later this year.
Android 16 introduces task-based notification tracking that allows users to view real-time task progress within the notification panel. Predictive feedback enhancements enable intuitive gesture recognition, such as forecasting swipe directions to return or exit apps.
Google has also refined the adaptive refresh rate to help apps synchronize display performance more effectively. An improved accessibility option adds text outlines for enhanced screen visibility.
The new hybrid auto-exposure tool permits manual control of ISO or exposure time while the system manages remaining parameters automatically. Additional updates include night scene recognition for the camera, enhanced UltraHDR imaging, better color temperature accuracy, improved photo picker functionality, and updates to the privacy sandbox.
